Shoji Door Maintenance

This 6-page article offers numerous how-to techniques for repairing shoji screens and building Japanese sliding doors.  Many of the techniques discussed in this article involve the installation and repair of washi paper, which Westerners often mistakenly call rice paper.  (That name is wrong; washi paper has nothing to do with rice.)  A shoji screen should not be considered "delicate."  Shoji screens do, however, require a certain degree of annual care.  This article explains how to provide that care to your shoji.
