What is a Tea House?

This 8-page article is about Japanese tea houses and related structures.  There is a lot of confusion (among Westerners) about what is, and what is not, a Japanese tea house.  The buildings that Westerners call "tea houses" are often Japanese-style gazebos or Japanese tea garden waiting benches.  Larger structures that Westerners call "teahouses" are often small Japanese houses.  The term "teahouse" is used because gaijin do not know the correct terminology.  Read this article and learn more about the traditional Japanese tea house!
